How to Dominate Your Opponent in a Badminton


Do you really want to dominate the game of badminton and defeat every opponent in your way? It is very easy and we have all the tips and things that you need to do but the hardest part with these tips is the commitment and the dedication that you need to put into it to achieve your goal.

But do not forget that badminton is a fun sport so you should never forget the reason why you play the enjoyment that the sport can give you, train and play to be able to gain more friends and not enemies. This sport is considered as a great form of exercise also and being a serious badminton player requires serious practice and a strong mind. What you need to do is to improve your physical ability as well as your ability to think strategically in order to win. So make sure that even if you train your physicality you should also improve your mental capacity to really excel in this sport.


Here are the things that you need to do to dominate the game;

1. Bounce

Keep and be conscious in your step always keep a bounce in your step. If you are flat-footed on the badminton court, you won’t be able to return your opponent’s shots at ease so you need to train to add some bounce on your steps so you can maneuver easily. Stay on your toes, bouncing back and forth. This practice will make it easier to spring across the course. This bounce also gives you the ability to jump if you need to cross particularly large distances.

2. Speed

One important thing on the game of badminton is to always be in front of the shuttle so getting around the court quickly is extremely important. So try jogging and walking weekly, it will keep you quick and your knees strong. You can play shadow badminton with a partner to improve your speed and footwork. Ask a friend to throw you some shuttles and try to beat it as fast as you can this will improve your anticipation and your agility on the court.

3. Backhand

First of all be conscious with your grip it should be strong but not too tight so that you won’t add muscle exhaustion in your wrists. So try improving and practicing your backhand grips. The placement of your thumb is the main difference between the backhand and forehand grips. For the backhand grip, the thumb should be placed upwards along the grip, pointed towards the head of your badminton racquet.

4. Serves

Master the different styles and types of serve. You know service are all the same but they have different function, some may drive your opponent back while other force them to play close to the net. Some are more aggressive while others are played defensively.


5. Strategy

Try to understand your opponents on how they move around the court, how they hit the shuttle, or what are the shots that they are having difficulty in returning, Make sure that you observe your opponent and try to play tricks on him. Most especially when you are playing with a new opponent, May it be a friendly or a competition you should actively try to discover his/her weaknesses and use that as your advantage. Find out whether they play more aggressively or defensively. Make sure that you check their footwork, weak drop shot returns or etc. and use it as much as possible to earn easy points.
