Badminton Gods Taking Their Places


We are lucky enough to witness how the Badminton Gods go down on earth and show us how the game of badminton should be played.

It is the time of the year when the Badminton Gods and Goddess are taking their rightful places once again.

Surely the stage is set for some of the high-profile clashes at TOTAL BWF World Championship 2017 in Glasgow with a lot of top qualifiers has confirmed their participations. 


The most anticipated category which is the Men’s Singles, where Gods contests between the likes of Lee Chong Wei(Malaysia), China’s Lin Dan and Chen Long, and Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen and Jan O Jogensen are on the cards as the top contestants in the first phase of the competition who have accepted their invitations.

On Women’s Singles division, we have the World No.1 Tai Tzu Ying, who has been on a run of six straight title victories, will not be participating as she has declined the invitation to compete in the Summer Universiade in her homeland.

But don’t be disappointed for the Women’s Singles boasts a very competitive list of contestants with two-time champion Carolina Marin(Spain, Pursala V Sindhu and Saina Nehwal of India, Korea’s very own Sung Ji Hyun, and Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand are set to grace the court as they accepted the invitation.

The Men’s Doubles are also stacked up with the pair of Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo (Indonesia) to lead the star studded Men’s Doubles. We will also see three Chinese, Danish, Indonesian, and Japanese pairs each have confirmed their participation.

Russia Vladmir Ivanov/Ivan Sozonov, and Chinese Taipei’s Yang Po Han/Lu Ching Yao; and of course the Olympic medalist Chris Langridge/Marcus Ellis and Hong Kong’s pride Ching Chung/Tang Chun Man are all headed to Glasgow as well.

The Women’s Doubles have the Olympic champions Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi will lead the strong Japanese charge that includes Naoko Fukuman.Kurumi Yonao and Shiho Tanaka/Koharu Yonemoto.


China will also be represented by the three pairs, the Indonesian will send their fourth-ranked pair of Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari. Also Denmark’s two pairs have accepted so they are sending their Olympic silver medalists Christinna Pedersen/Karmilla and Sara Thygesen/Maiken Fruergaard.

Malaysia will also send two pairs and while Australia can look to Gronya Somerville/Setyana Mapasa to complete the studded lists of competitors.

      I myself would declare that in doubles category Sukamuljo and Gideon are the gods but I think my team would hate me. (Kidding aside) because they all have their own bets. Will update you once we came up with a write up. So far please continue to enjoy our blog.
